On January 29, 2025, at 1128 hours (11:28 am), units were dispatched to the 2100 block of Timothy Drive in the Taylorsville area for a house fire. First arriving E141 encountered heavy smoke coming from the front windows of the first floor of a two-story residence. Attack lines were pulled and taken into the house to extinguish the fire. E12, Truck 1, and Tanker 1 from MAVFC responded as dispatched to assist. E12 crew assisted with extinguishment. During that process, E12 crew found a pet dog unconscious inside the house. The dog was removed to the outside and life saving measures were applied. Unfortunately, the CPR and oxygen was not enough to revive the dog. No firefighters or civilians were injured. Extensive damage was done to the house. The fire is being investigated by the Maryland State Fire Marshal's office.
It should be noted that MAVFC units were committed to this incident when a fire broke out in Mount Airy in a townhouse. Mutual aid companies handled that call.
