On Monday September 25, 2023, at 0522 hours (5:22 am), units were dispatched to the 3800 block of Mount Airy Drive for a house fire. The first arriving units encountered moderate smoke conditions in the house and smoke coming from the roof near the chimney. Supply lines were laid in the driveway, and attack lines were deployed to the first floor. The aerial ladder from Truck 1 was deployed for access to the roof and chimney area. Subsequent search and opening of the walls, ceiling and roof areas revealed a smoldering fire in the floor and wall portions of the structure in the chimney chase area. Much time was spent carefully opening the area around the fireplaces on the basement and first floor levels to access the fire. After opening the areas, the fire was extinguished, and overhaul and pick up was accomplished. Damage was limited to the living room and basement den.

Units responded from Mount Airy, CCDFEMS, Lisbon, HCDFRS, Winfield, Damascus, MCDFRS, New Market, Green Valley, FCDFR, Sykesville, and Glenwood.
