On Saturday 02/09/13 at 2138 hours (9:38PM), Structure Alarm 01-06 was dispatched by Carroll County 911 for a garage fire in the 3900 block of Windermere Way. The initial alarm brought units from the MAVFC and Winfield VFC. Chief 1 was first on-the scene reporting nothing evident from a two story detached garage. This was quickly upgraded to smoke showing from the roof during size-up. A tanker was requested for additional water due to the address being in an area without fire hydrants. Engine 12 arrived and positioned in the driveway where the crew stretched a hose line in to extinguish the fire. Crews found light smoke in the vehicle storage area and moderate smoke on the second floor. Further investigation found fire along the ceiling and in the insulation that had burned through the roof. Crews made a quick knockdown on the fire and began overhaul and mop-up. There were no injuries and the fire was contained to the building of origin. The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office is handling the fire investigation. Units operated on the scene for approximately two hours. |
