In 1989, a new committee was appointed to locate land for a new firehouse and investigate the possibility of renovating the current firehouse.  The Clay property next to the Locker Company was purchased.  Ground was finally broken on November 10, 1991.  November 7, 1992 the Mt. Airy Volunteer Fire Company moved into the new station on North Main Street.  Dedication was held on January 3, 1993 with approximately 700 people attending.
